Our First Kotuku Kaiora Awards

We have had a very busy first 2 weeks and we have so many amazing students as part of Team Kotuku - it really made it difficult for the teachers to choose only 3 award recipients!

Congratulations to Noah, Chloe and Kody, our first recipients for 2019. All 3 have shown what great role models they are for other students in our team and our school. Ka pai tō mahi!

Welcome to 2019!

Wow, 4 days done and only 2 days left until the end of our second week as a team! The time has flown by as we have begun learning how to work together - a concept made more difficult with the heat, but we are working through it together!

The Year that was...2018!

I hope everyone is having a great holiday break and ready to start back in just over a week - either back as part of the Senior Squad (Kotuku Team) or at high school.

Just thought I would share this with everyone - a video that James has made over the summer break. What a great way to reminisce about our time together in 2018! Thanks James!

End of Year Fun Day - Swim and Tag!

Wow! Yesterday was an awesome day! Luckily the weather cleared up just in time for us to walk to QEII for our swim session and our game of Archery tag.

We split into two groups, Year 7's and Year 8's, and we had half an hour at one of the activities then swapped over. The Year 7's swam first, using all the cool equipment and the hydroslide while the Year 8's did some archery skills and played some games using arrows that had big foam tips. Although they looked like they'd be heavy, they were pretty light and didn't hurt if you were hit by them (protective head gear was needed though!).

Mr T, our principal, running the gauntlet!

Bon Voyage : (

Last night we had our Year 8 Graduation dinner - a night to celebrate our Year 8's and all that they have achieved and given to our school. We had speeches first followed by an awesome buffet spit roast dinner. Our Year 8's were then called up, one at a time, and presented with the Memory books which Melody, from the Home and School, put together using photos taken during the year supplied by Mr Fox, Miss Keys and Miss McManus. We finished the night with dessert, photos and book signings. It was truly a special night! We will miss our wonderful Year 8's!

Manic Market Day!

Chocolate Wheel
Fairy bread and pink lemonade
Chocolate Wheel

The action in the hall
Cupcake stall - icing their cupcakes
Xmas baubles
Friendship bracelets and karaoke
Today we had our Market Day. We invited the other 3 Teams of students during different time slots during the day. Unfortunately the weather wasn't cooperating so we had to move to Plan B and have all the stalls inside our classes and in the hall. Overall the day was a success - the students had fun (as did we!) and we made almost $1000!
